Types of Houses in Ireland

Do you know in Ireland we have different types of houses?

Lots of people when they are looking for a house, sometimes they have no idea about the different layouts, styles and sometimes they don't understand the reason for different prices, buttttt I will explain to you :)

Normally in Ireland, in one estate you generally have the same type of house, but you can have several different types of the house in that same estate.

Let me explain to you the most 4 common styles which you will find.

DETACHED HOUSE

Firstly we are will talk about my dream house style, what it is the DETACHED HOUSE.

You know this is the one when there is no shared common wall with neighbours. It is usually surrounded by a garden or walk way.

In this case, normally you have more privacy two access for the back of the house.

Lets talk about Price, shall we?

The main disadvantage of detached houses is that they are much more expensive to buy than all other types for the amount of floor space you get.

SEMI -DETACHED HOUSE

A semi-detached house is a family home that shares one common wall with one other home.

The two homes that share a wall in semi-detached housing are also often mirror images of each other.

About price, the major disadvantage of your average 'semi' is that it will be more expensive than a terraced house in the same area – although it will still be cheaper than a fully detached home. Occupants of semi-detached properties share a common party wall with a neighbor, so there may still be some issues of noise and privacy.

Still a Lovely house and you can access the house from one of the outdoor sides.

END OF TERRACE HOUSE

The end-terraced or end-of-terrace house is a house attached to just one neighbor that in its turn is attached to two neighbors. Thus, although in common with the semi-detached house it has only one neighbor, it is classified differently thanks to the terraced status of that neighbor.

The price is a bit less than the semi-detached and little more of Terraced house.

TERRACE HOUSE

In architecture and city planning, a terrace or terraced house is a form of medium-density housing that originated in Europe in the 16th century, whereby a row of attached dwellings share side walls.

The difference between a semi-detached and terraced house is the first one is attached to just one other property, whereas a mid-terraced house is linked to other homes on both sides.

This one the the most affordable options. Normally the floor plan is smaller than the other styles, but still a great place to live with small to medium families.

You may well hear your neighbours from both sides sometimes, or maybe not. This depends of course on the construction of the house and of course, the neighbours
