Why did I change my Autocad for Sketchup?

Updated: Sep 14, 2022

I have been working with Autocad since 1999 and honestly I loved it.

I always liked to design all the details and how precisely Autocad it is.

But let's be honest … the final presentation can be a little bit boring if you are not super Autocad Expert and drawing all the views and facade can take us hourssssss and not lets start talk about revisions.

As a work mommy as two little girls I honest don't have time to redo the same thing innumerous time.

Because of that I decide to do the transitions for Sketch Up and it was the best decision ever.

When I work with Sketchup, the program show me on the same time the 3d dimension and its amazing how I can work with final colours, textures and material.

Super easy to see the final result and get approval from the client much quicker.

Design In Sketch UP + Layout

In 2012 I was introduced to Sketchup, but to be honest, I didn't like that much , but even so, I slowly started to study and work on the program.

In 2013 I was already doing projects for 3-story houses, but I used it more to do the external part and I need confess that my progress and dynamics were very slow and confusing because I had no idea what Sketchup was capable of.

One of my first designer

In 2016 was when my love grew unconditionally, because that's when I got to know rendering and started a career change process.

It was Sketchup and Render that opened doors for me to work in Europe.

I had left Brazil, where I already had a stable career, and came to live in Europe, where I would literally have to start from scratch.

I specialized in the program and within a few months I was already doing amazing projects and presentations for the commercial and residential clients.

Combine Sketchup + Layout and all the knowledge what I got working with differents Architects, companies and construction sites around the world, gave the knowledge to become one expert.

Autocad is great and I really think it's essential that every Interior Design and Architect knows how to work with it, but Sketchup combined with Layout gives you a much higher quality of details and graphic design and the best, save you 50 % of time for work in each project.

With the world changing rapidly today and Netflix showing projects being created in 3D in real time, there's no point in being left behind.

You always have to improve yourself, work but also have time for family and friends.

And that's how I created a working method that combines creativity, technique and efficiency and as a result, well-presented projects, easy for the client and the contractor to understand.

And the best part of it?

It will make you work with the same quality in much less time

Have a nice Day

xx

Karina
